If I go out of town and can't sign my unemployment insurance paperwork in the state of CA, what will happen?

If I go out of town and can't sign my unemployment insurance paperwork in the state of CA, what will happen?

Hi,

I really hate questions like this.

I often delete questions I think are just plain stupid and primarily due to being to lazy to search for and then read any of the other similar questions I might have already answered.

But you didn't misspell a word and I appreciate any question I don't have to edit by capitalizing letters, adding spacing or apostrophe's in contracted words ..

So here's one backatcha.

If you are not at home and able to sign your claim form for continuing benefits in any given week .. are you really entitled to collect benefits if you are not able and available to accept suitable work .. a conditional requirement to collect benefits .. in any given week?

Are you able and available?

Not Able and Available for now......

If one opens a UI claim and later, due to personal reasons, not be eligible as "Able and Available", can the UI claim be "suspended" during this unable/unavailable phase and later resume collecting at a later date when you can again be Able and Available?

Yes, I think that's very possible .. as long as your benefit year doesn't expire during the time you're not able and available.

But, if you don't let the dept know so they can note the claim .. they will probably think you were working and want to investigate before they reopen when you're able to start claiming again.
